
MILF commander arrested for 2008 Kolambugan attack
Police arrested a leader of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) allegedly responsible for the April 18, 2008 attack in Lanao del Norte, which resulted to the death of an Army officer.
Lt. Colonel Ariel Huesca, PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao chief, identified the suspect as Jovy Sanguila, alias Commander Wahab Gara, of the MILF’s 102nd Base Command.
Huesca said a police special unit arrested Sanguila in his residence in Barangay Tuca, Marawi City last Saturday, June 8.
He said the suspect has a bounty of P1.3 million for his arrest for his alleged involvement in the 2008 attack in Kolambugan town in Lanao del Norte, where Army officer Lt. Colonel Angelo Benitez was killed in an ambush.
Surigao City-Trento highway undergoing rehabilitation
The Department of Public Works and Highways – Caraga revealed that the Daang Maharlika Highway connecting Barangay Lipata, Surigao City to Trento, Agusan del Sur is being rehabilitated at a cost of P29.14 billion.
DPWH Caraga Director Pol de los Santos said repair works for the Daang Maharlika Highway is ongoing and is expected to be completed by December 2028.
The Daang Maharlika is the main transportation highway that connects Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
